1. Head east on Rehoboth Ave toward Rd 272/State Rd
2. Turn left onto 5th St
3. Turn right onto Columbia Ave
4. Turn left onto 2nd St
5. Take the 1st right onto Henlopen Ave
6. Continue onto Rd 300/Duneway
Continue to follow Rd 300

Head straight down Ocean Dr.

We will finish in Cape Henlopen State Park at Herring Point.

Geared Towards All Athletes

blistertoe youth running programs are perfect for the off-season athlete to stay fit and keep an edge on the competition. Football, wrestling, basketball, baseball, softball – all athletes will gain endurance, strength, speed, and agility.

Our 11-14 , 15-18 & adult programs include developmentally appropriate conditioning and functional fitness drills used by today’s top athletes and CrossFitters.

Our athletes not only build speed and endurance, but also build full-body and core strength essential for every sport. Improvement is made through an array of training. We offer the best drills in plyometrics, intervals, Pilates, and dynamic core training.

In order to be at your best, you need to eat your best. We go beyond exercise and include an education in healthy eating. Each athlete in the program will developing a working knowledge of power foods and the game-time enhancements of a healthy diet.

What is MovNat?

Millions of years ago we ran, jumped, swung, hopped, and swam. Most of the time we were chasing our dinners. Or trying not to become something else’s dinner. Sadly, the caveman workout days are long gone.

Now that we have Wal-Marts and Pizza Palaces, the need for all that natural movement is gone.

Frenchman, Erwan LeCorre saw the tragedy in this & set out to resurrect the caveman workout. Like running, all you need is the outdoors and a little imagination to unleash your inner caveman.

Take a look.

 

We won’t be climbing any rock faces or diving off any cliffs, but we will use the spirit of MovNat – to get out and roam, climb, run, throw and just have fun…like out great caveman ancestors did when they weren’t chasing down sabertooth tigers.

fartleks

 

fartlekfart-lek – Sweedish, meaning “speedplay.” Run fast.  Run slow.  Repeat.

This week we will introduce fartleks into our workouts.  Fartleks are fun to say and more fun to do.  They are pretty simple.  We will incorporate speed pace, run pace, and walk pace.  Mixing all paces will strengthen our aerobic (endurance & stamina) and anaerobic (speed & strength) all in one fun to say workout.  Go ahead, say it again.

 

The fartlek course will be set up on our track.  Laps will count towards our blisterfeet.

 

Here’s what to look for:

Orange cone = speed pace
Yellow disc = run pace
Black sandbag = walk pace

Fartlek = awesomeness

Lunge Warm-Up

Tuesday and Thursday we will introduce a new lunge warm-up. The warm-up comes from the brain of Coach Jay Johnson, a Nike Running coach and the assistant coach of for the University of Colorado cross country and track team. Take a look!

Our goal at blistertoe youth running is to promote healthy living through exercise and education. Our athletes develop proper running technique in a fun, encouraging environment. Each athlete in our program will learn the benefits of healthy living, goal setting, and nutrition.
We offer programs for children ages 7—18 & adults.
